"I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity."1 Timothy 2:1-2

Kingdom Prayer Focus

The Bible calls us to pray on Memorial Day: "I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity." (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

We can pray that those who fought and died for our country did not die in vain. We can ask that their sacrifice would live on to inspire others to live in freedom and to serve and love their fellow citizens:

"That we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom; and that government, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
--Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address, 1863

McConnell Church members - It’s time to begin prayerfully considering your
recommendations for the office of deacon for the coming year. Our deacons serve for terms of three years after having been nominated and elected by the church. Nominees must be a McConnell church member for at least one year and meet the biblical requirements for serving. Beginning Sunday, paper recommendation forms will be available in the Welcome Center or, if you prefer, you can make your recommendations online on the church website. The deadline to make a recommendation is June 19th.

Spark imagination and kick creativity into high gear at Spark Studios! Join Pastor Steve Awtrey and his VBS team for a fun-filled, fast-paced week, June 20th thru June 24th, 9:00 am until noon. Help us be prepared & successful by pre-registering your kids online at If you would like to serve in VBS this year, please contact Pastor Steve at [email protected].

Every 5th Sunday (once a quarter) our Peak Worship kids celebrate with the adults in the Worship Service and sing for us. PEAK Kids (1st - 5th grade) will stay with their families for church. PEAK Kids Jr. (Kinder & Pre-K) will sing with the Elementary Kids, and then be ushered back to the Children’s Dept.

Join our Book Study class on Sunday morning May 29th at 9 a.m. in LL-042 for “Elijah” by Priscilla Shirer. Journey through the life and times of the prophet Elijah to discover how the fire on Mount Carmel was forged in the valley of famine and how the emboldened, fiery faith you desire is being fashioned by God in your life right now.

The church office will be closed on Monday, May 30th in observance of Memorial Day.

Come to 150 Foster Park Rd. in Young Harris on Friday, June 3rd at 10:00 a.m. for the opening ceremony of the Traveling Wall Tribute.

Attention all VBS volunteers. We will have a VBS meeting immediately following the morning worship service on Sunday, 6/5 in the Children’s dept.

If you are new to the church or want information on joining the church, please join Pastor Steve & Pastor Danny as they share information about McConnell’s vision. The class will be held on June 12th, at 11:45 a.m., in The Lodge immediately following the morning worship service. A light lunch will be served. This class is a prerequisite for joining the church.  Register online or call the church office to register at 706-896-2281.

Parent Child Dedication is a public commitment you make before God, your church, and your family. The dedication service on Sunday, June 19th provides you, the parent(s), an opportunity to express publicly your desire to lead and spiritually nurture your child in partnership with the church, so your child will develop a desire to love and serve God.  Call the church office or register online here to sign up.
