Our Wednesday night meal teams coordinator is looking for 5-6 volunteers to spend a couple of hours to prep & serve our children and their families during Wednesday night meals, for one Wednesday each month. This would provide them with a regularly rotating team & an additional backup if a main team is sick or out of town.  Call the church office to sign up at 706-896-2281.

Church Members - There will be a called church conference & annual corporate meeting immediately following the morning worship service on Sunday, August 22nd for the purpose of voting to approve the Servants in Ministry, Corporate Officers & Deacons for the coming year.

Men of all ages are invited to come to our McConnell Men’s ministry this Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. in the Lodge. Dinner will be provided. We will be watching The Chosen and then have group discussion afterward. This is a great outreach event, so invite someone to come with you!

The ESL Ministry Team, coordinated by Mary Dolvin, is excited to resume English as a Second Language (ESL) classes on Thursday, September 2nd at 7 pm in the Family Life Center. The students who attend are eager to learn English! Volunteers in this ministry do not need to speak a foreign language or be professional teachers. If you speak English and love Jesus, we can teach you the rest! There will be a training session on Thursday evening, August 26th, at 7 pm in room 219 in the Family Life Center. If you’d like to volunteer to help or just want to find out more about this ministry, please contact Mary Dolvin, 828-389-9451.

Come out to McConnell on Friday, September 3rd at 6:30 p.m. to see the Alan Kendall & Friends Homecoming Concert featuring The Kingsmen Quartet and special guests, The Primitive Quartet. This is a free concert and a love offering will be taken. For more information call 706-970-0246.

NEW- McConnell Church Ladies Bible study | 9/15
Women of all ages are invited to come study “The Epic of Eden” series, an ancient challenge to get serious about your prayer and worship.  This is an 8-session video and discussion.  We will meet at McConnell on Wednesdays starting Sept 15th, in the Choir Suite, from 9:45 am -11:45 am. This is facilitated by Debbie Louder, Nita Bacon and Phyllis Miller. To register, call Phyllis at 706-994-2800. Registration ends Tuesday, Sept 7th.  Study guides will be about $18.00, payable at the first meeting. For questions about the study, call Debbie Louder at 678-386-2649.

Kingdom Prayer Focus

Father, we thank you that your word is truth and that everything in our lives is directly related to your word. Remind us to stay committed to the Christian life and to follow you completely. Help us to forget about ourselves and to look to you for every decision. We want to walk in your will and in your way. Oh, how often we fail, as our faith waivers in our daily walk. Forgive us when we take our eyes off you as we look around at our circumstances. We think that we are strong enough and smart enough to fix our own problems. Teach us to walk in your ways moment by moment! Lord, help us as we strive to give all our adoration and love to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
