A Healthy Church

What does it actually look like to be a healthy church? Not just a church that meets on Sundays, but one that is truly alive, growing, and making a difference in the world? Acts 2:42 gives us a surprisingly practical answer. The early believers devoted themselves to four core practices: the apostles' teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. The key word here is devoted. Not obligated. Not grudging. Devoted. There is a world of difference between showing up out of duty and showing up out of genuine desire. The early church did not treat these practices as boxes to check. They treated them as the very things that kept them spiritually alive. The Word of God was their diet. Fellowship, prayer, and the Lord's Supper were their exercise. Just as an athlete cannot perform without proper nutrition and training, we cannot grow in our faith without consistently engaging in the practices that fuel spiritual health. The question this raises for us is a personal one: are we devoted, or are we just attending?
