Father's Day - Back to the Garden

God's design for marriage is found not in the fall of Genesis 3, but in the perfection of Genesis 1–2. While Genesis 3:16 describes the broken consequences of sin—including domination and conflict—it does not prescribe God's ideal for marriage. Before sin entered the world, Adam and Eve were created as equal partners. Eve is called ezer kenegdo—a powerful Hebrew term describing a strong helper, rescuer, and counterpart standing face-to-face with Adam. Likewise, the husband is called to devak—to cling to his wife with unwavering devotion and commitment. Biblical headship, modeled after Christ, is not about control or authority but sacrificial love, serving first, and giving oneself away for the good of another. God's original vision for marriage is one of mutual honor, partnership, understanding, and selfless love that reflects His glory to the world.
