Caring

Our Caring Teams help meet the practical and spiritual needs of the community.

The English as a Second Language volunteers meet on Thursdays throughout the year to assist those for whom English is not their first language. They provide friendship, music, food and instruction in conversational English in a relaxed and loving environment.

The GriefShare volunteers are a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside those facing one of life’s most difficult experiences. The 13 week session is offered several times a year and additional information is available at griefshare.org.

The Homebound Visitation volunteers visit those members who are no longer able to attend church whether they are still in their homes or in local assisted living facilities or nursing homes. They serve as a vital link to the outside world and offer friendship, compassion, and listening for these who can no longer be out and about.

The Prayer Ministry includes intercessory prayer for our weekly services and activities, for those who request confidential prayer through the Prayer Line (706.896.0806) and weekly prayer on Tuesday mornings & Wednesday evenings.

The Hope Clothes Closet
The Hope Clothes Closet serves those from the surrounding communities by providing them with high-quality every day seasonal clothing. All are welcome to visit on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1-3 p.m. Clothes are provided free of charge. Clothing donations are also accepted during the above hours. Please call the church office at 706-896-2281 before bringing your donations as there are times when only specific items are accepted.

GraceWorks
GraceWorks is an outreach ministry of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church made up of volunteers who wish to serve God. GraceWorks provides services to people in the community and our church family who need help with tasks at their homes that they no longer have the physical or financial ability to do. Volunteers can provide light carpentry, rubbish clean-up, landscaping and other “odds and ends” and “handyman” type of work in order to help maintain and create a safe living environment. Typical recipients are low-income senior citizens who no longer have the ability, physically or financially, to care for their residences.
How can you get involved? Send an email expressing your interest to Pat Nesbitt at patnesbitt214@gmail.com and we will provide a skills assessment form for you to fill out. Do you know someone who needs help? If you know someone who needs help, please contact Chris Weaver at the church office at 706-896-2281 and she will forward the information to you.

SOUP’S ON – A Love Does Ministry
A new ministry, “Soups On!” is looking to provide an opportunity to minister to anyone who would be blessed with a brief visit and a simple meal of soup and muffin. This gesture of kindness could be extended to someone recently home from the hospital; someone needing a respite from caregiving; a new neighbor as a welcome or in an outreach effort in our community. So if you like to cook, have a favorite recipe and would enjoy the fellowship of group cooking, contact Linda Herreid at: lindaherreid@gmail.com or call the church office.

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
