McConnell Church members - it’s time to begin prayerfully considering your recommendations for the office of deacons for the coming year. Our deacons serve for terms of three years after having been nominated and elected by the church. Nominees must be a McConnell church member for at least one year and meet the biblical requirements for serving. Paper recommendation forms are available in the Welcome Center or, if you prefer, you can make your recommendations on the church website. The deadline to make a recommendation is Sunday, June 20th.

A new Sunday School class has started in the Lower Level hallway room #026 with easy handicap access through the administrative offices for those who have trouble walking to other classrooms. The class is for all ages and genders and will be taught by Pat Wroten. She will teach “How Long O Lord, How Long?” through 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. Join them at 9:00 a.m. Sunday mornings.

Our Library is now open on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and before and after services. We are also open on Wednesdays from 10:00 am - noon, and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm.  They are requesting donations of your gently used Christian books. Please stop in, say hello, and check it out!

Women on Mission and the Nannie Rose Tatham/WMU group invites anyone with sewing skills to join us on the last Tuesday of each month at Brasstown Manor Senior Living. We mend/repair clothing, linens, and whatever needs a stitch or two to be “good as new” or “fit just right”. Come join us at the Manor on May 25 at 9:30 a.m.

BAPTISM | 5/30
We will have baptism on Sunday morning, May 30th. If you, or someone you know, would like to be baptized, contact the church office at 706-896-2281.

Starting June 6th at 9:00 a.m., all children’s departments are back! To volunteer in any of these areas, call the church office. We especially need volunteers in our church nursery.

If you are new to the church or want information on joining the church, please join Pastor Danny as he shares information about McConnell’s vision. The class will be held on June 13th, at 11:45 a.m., in The Lodge immediately following the morning worship service. A light lunch will be served. This class is a prerequisite for joining the church.  Please call the church office to register at 706-896-2281 or sign up on our website at

VBS 2021: Destination Dig | 6/21 - 6/25
June 21-25 we will have VBS at McConnell from 9 am - 12 pm daily. The registration link is on our webpage at If you would like to volunteer in any capacity, please contact Pastor Steve Awtrey or Chris Weaver at the church office 706-896-2281.

Come join us on the 4th of July for our 4th Family Fun Fair from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the FLC and outdoors. There will be games, entertainment, and activities for all ages. Dinner will be provided by McConnell. Bring your best dessert for our judges to decide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place blue ribbon winners. If you would like to volunteer, we need help in the following areas: food/kitchen, recreation/activities, entertainment, traffic flow/guest services, dessert contest, setup/cleanup. Please call Chris at the church office for more information at 706-896-2281.

Kingdom Prayer Focus

Lord God, we give you thanks for the gift of spiritual armor that you offer us! You offer to cover us with everything we need to live out our walk with Christ, as long as we do our part, by putting on that armor. None of us are exempt from the fight, so help us to persevere in chasing after the faith with good conscience. We ask for your help to keep us on track with our belief so we don’t fall off the narrow road. Oh Lord, give us the desire to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness! Then let our pursuit of these things develop into a way of life which results in a reflection of your son. May that reflection draw those who are searching for you into a saving knowledge of Jesus, as we give you all the glory, in His mighty name, amen.
