And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. Philippians 1:9-10

Reminders/Announcements

DEACON RECOMMENDATIONS | 5/16
McConnell Church members - it’s time to begin prayerfully considering your recommendations for the office of deacons for the coming year. Our deacons serve for terms of three years after having been nominated and elected by the church. Nominees must be a McConnell church member for at least one year and meet the biblical requirements for serving. Beginning Sunday, May 16th, paper recommendation forms will be available in the Welcome Center or, if you prefer, you can make your recommendations online on the church website. The deadline to make a recommendation is Sunday, June 20th.

NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS "Jubilee" STARTING MAY 16
A new Sunday School class will be starting in the Lower Level hallway room #026 with easy handicap access through the administrative offices for those who have trouble walking to other classrooms. The class is for all ages and genders and will be taught by Pat Wroten. She will teach “How Long O Lord, How Long?” through 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. If you are interested in attending, just show up, or contact the church office if you would like more information at 706-896-2281.

OUR LIBRARY IS BACK OPEN
Our Library is now open on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and before and after services. We are also open on Wednesdays from 10:00 am - noon, and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Please stop in, say hello, and check it out!

WMU INVITATION | 5/25
Women on Mission and the Nannie Rose Tatham/WMU group invites anyone with sewing skills to join us on the last Tuesday of each month at Brasstown Manor Senior Living. We mend/repair clothing, linens, and whatever needs a stitch or two to be “good as new” or “fit just right”. If you would like to be part of this ministry, come join us at the Manor on May 25th at 9:30 a.m.

GraceWorks Ministry Info
GraceWorks is a service to people in the community and our church family who need home repairs they can’t afford or can’t do themselves. Volunteers provide light carpentry, rubbish clean-up, and other “odds and ends” and “handyman” work in order to create a safe living environment. Typical recipients are low-income senior citizens who no longer have the ability, physically or financially, to care for their residences. How can you get involved? Send an email expressing your interest to David Elliott at [email protected]  and we will provide a skills assessment form for you to fill out.  If you know someone who needs help, please contact the church office at 706-896-2281 and they will forward the information.

VBS 2021: Destination Dig | 6/21 - 6/25
Registration is now open! June 21-25 we will have VBS in person at McConnell from 9 am - 12 pm daily. The registration link is on our webpage at mcconnellchurch.org. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Pastor Steve Awtrey at the church office 706-896-2281.

Kingdom Prayer Focus

Father, thank you for giving us the desire to fight for what is right – and that is fighting for the faith! Keep us ever vigilant of false teachers and wolves in sheep’s clothing who distort the truth in order to draw a following. Remind us to train ourselves to be goldy men and women so we can run a good race in this life. Strengthen our commitment to study, so that we can accurately handle, and skillfully teach your word of truth. Show us who you want us to partner with to keep our focus on Jesus, for if one of us falls, the other is there to help. In the process, remind us that your Holy Spirit is our best advocate! And finally, Lord, help us to remember to put into practice everything that we’ve learned. Give us your strength and your peace in Jesus’ name, amen.
