April 6th 2023

Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!” Mt 20:17-19

Kingdom Prayer Focus

Father, we are so thankful for your commitment to us through your son Jesus. Your covenant promise tells us that You will forgive us and that You will let us choose to accept that gift or not. You canceled the record of charges against us by nailing them to the cross. All of our sins were forgiven, the slate was wiped clean, that old arrest warrant was canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross. Then you disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities by shaming them publicly by Jesus’ victory over them on the cross. Help us to remember that when this happened……we were made alive with Christ!!! And without the promise of forgiveness we have no future and no hope of heaven, or of being the Bride of Christ. So, like the thief on the cross, we humbly ask that you remember us when you come into your kingdom. In his Holy and Righteous name, Amen.

We will continue collecting donations for the Annie Armstrong Easter offering thru April 9th. Special Annie Armstrong offering envelopes will be available in the pew pockets, or you can designate your online donation in the memo line of your check. Our 2023 goal is $25,000.

Good Friday Service | 4/7
There will be a worship service on Good Friday, April 7th at 6:00 pm. This will include the Lord’s Supper and a Benevolence Offering will be taken at the end of the service. Be sure to join us and invite your friends and family.

Celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ at the annual Sunrise Service at Hamilton Gardens at 7:00 a.m. This early morning, outdoor service will be hosted by Hiawassee United Methodist Church with the message by Rev. Fred Whitley. This is a great way to start this Easter Sunday! Come enjoy uplifting music and an encouraging word as we praise & honor Him! A love offering will be taken and all proceeds will be donated to a local charity.

Easter Worship Service
Following the sunrise service, McConnell will continue the celebration at the 10:15 am morning service. All Sunday School classes will meet as scheduled. The choir & band, under the direction of Chris Adams, will present special music. Come worship with us!

RED CROSS Blood Drive 4/11
There’s currently an urgent need for blood donors of all blood types.  Our annual Spring blood drive, Tuesday April 11th from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, helps ensure that blood products are readily available for patients in need at a time when the need is critical.   Please visit www.redcross.org and enter zip code 30546 to make your appointment now, or click here.

If you are new to the church or want information on joining the church, please join Pastor Steve & Pastor Danny as they share information about McConnell’s vision. The class will be held next Sunday, April 16th, at 11:45 a.m., in The Lodge immediately following the morning worship service. A light lunch will be served. This class is a prerequisite for joining the church.  Register online or call the church office to register at 706-896-2281.

A new book study, “Is This The End”. by Dr. David Jeremiah will begin on Sunday 4/16 at 9:00 a.m. in room #042-LL. This will be about the “signs of God’s providence in a disturbing new world.” No need to sign up, just come!

Join the McConnell team in the church parking lot (Hospital side) at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 15th to clean a cabin from  9:00 am—noon. This is a multi-church project organized through the Hiawassee Baptist Association to help Camp Hosanna get ready for summer camp. Each church will take a cabin, and help with cleaning the bath houses, so bring your cleaning supplies and be prepared to work together. Afterward, we will take the time to prayer-walk the grounds and pray for the leaders that will be coming along with the children God sends. More info about Camp Hosanna can be found at http://www.camphosanna.org/about.html.

Come spend time with other moms who can relate and support you! We meet on the third Tuesday of each month during the school year, 6:00-7:30 pm, in The Lodge. Dinner will be served. To RSVP, text "thrive" to 706-995-7515. For more info call or text Calah Pearson at (706) 599-9144 or email
 [email protected].
